Kincardine Legion Corner

Wednesday’s Catch the Ace draw saw Rob Watson with the winning ticket, taking home $803; if he had caught the Ace of Spades, he would have won $11,726! He chose Envelope No. 13 which contained the Eight of Spades. Keep buying those tickets and supporting our local charities. The jackpot should be more than $12,500 this week.

Remembrance Day was a great success with a large turn-out. There were 65 wreaths placed at the Cenotaph, and the weather could not have been any better! Thank you to all the volunteers who worked so hard to make this day a great success.

Mark your calendar for Nov. 30. This is the final day for early bird membership. If you renew by this date, you save $5, the exact same amount a Catch the Ace ticket costs. Why not drop in and renew your membership and purchase a ticket with your $5 savings?!

We have upgraded our TV screens for Thursday Night Bingo. They are bigger and brighter and have several other functions that we can use for other events in the hall. Thursday night was our first time using them with great success, and because of the changes, the kitchen staff decided to kick things up a notch and change the menu to our world-famous chili! We also got to celebrate the birthday of our second-vice, Mary Farrell. Not only do we have Bingo on Thursday night but we also have drop-in competitive darts, starting at 7 p.m.

Just a few more weeks until Dec. 2 and Lulu’s will be rocking the Legion Hall. I hear there are a few tickets left. They are $40 each and you can pick them up at the Legion Club Room Bar or at Grey Matter Beer Company in downtown Kincardine. This is our first fund-raising event to upgrade the Legion kitchen.

Trivia Night is also fast approaching, Friday, Nov. 24, at 7 p.m. Grab your know-it-all friends and join in the fun. There are eight people to a team and it only costs $5 per person. You can register at the Legion Club Room Bar. We can’t hold a table so it’s first come, first in the game.

Don’t forget tickets go on sale this Saturday, Nov. 18, for our New Year’s Eve Party. They are $50 each for members and $60 each for non-members, another reason to get your membership renewed before Nov. 30!
