Labour Market Planning Board conducting annual survey of employers
This month, the Four Counties Labour Market Planning Board is conducting its annual survey of employers to gather information about: how likely they are to hire staff, what skills they are looking for, and what difficulties they have in finding the right employees.

Did you know that in the four counties of Bruce, Grey, Huron, and Perth there are many employers desperately looking for, and unable to find, employees with the right skills? At the same time there are people looking for, and unable to find, meaningful employment. Sometimes, it is a matter of one not knowing the other exists, and other times it is that the skills that people have do not match the skills that employers need.

The Four Counties Labour Market Planning Board is working to close this gap. If the board knows what it is that employers are looking for, it can work with schools, colleges, career-counselling services and various other organizations and agencies, to help steer people into the available jobs directly, or to training and education to prepare them for those jobs.

As with all initiatives of this sort, it is important to get the right information, and so the current “Employer One” survey is open now on the planning board website at: http://www.planningboard.ca/survey

Local employers are encouraged to designate an individual to complete this short 10-minute survey on their behalf. Once the survey is complete, the data will be shared.
