The award, which is part of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project, recognized Bruce Power for its focus on young employees through the on-site North American Young Generation Nuclear (NA-YGN) organization, and its development student and internship programs.
“The winning organizations recognize that younger employees are where the new ideas come from,” said Kristina Leung, senior editor of the Canada's Top 100 Employers project at Mediacorp Canada Inc., which manages the competition. “Making your workplace attractive to younger employees brings in new ways of thinking about your business model, both in terms of technology and how your organization delivers its key products and services.”
Cathy Sprague, Bruce Power’s executive vice-president of human resources, said being recognized for the fifth consecutive year shows that the company – and the nuclear industry – provides an attractive career for young people.
“Since Bruce Power was founded in 2001, we have invested a lot of time and resources into developing young people into becoming the future leaders of our company,” said Sprague. “It’s encouraging to, once again, be recognized by Canada’s Top 100 Employers for our work with young people, and we will continue to focus on the people who will lead Bruce Power over the next two decades.”
