ERIC ALVIN SLADE

Eric Alvin Slade of RR 1, Ripley, and formerly of Kincardine Township, died at University Hospital in London, Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at the age of 68. Survived by his beloved wife, Brenda McMullin; her children, Andrew McMullin and Laura McMullin; grandchildren, Ashley, Erica and Stacy; and two great-grandsons. Dear brother of Irwin Slade (Jane) of RR 5, Kincardine; and Margaret Slade (Ian Morrissey) of Oshawa. Missed by his brothers-in-law, Norm Poirier of RR 2, Tiverton; and George MacMaster (Andrée) of Montreal. Fondly remembered by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and members of the Kincardine Lions Club and Knox Presbyterian Church, Tiverton. Predeceased by his parents, Burton and Dorothy (née Irwin) Slade; and sister, Marilyn Poirier. Eric was a dedicated and hard-working member of the Kincardine Lions Club, helping out where he could,  particularly with barbecues and the recently-completed Splash Pad at the Lions Park beside the Davidson Centre in Kincardine. Years ago, he underwent a heart transplant which gave him a new lease on life. A celebration of Eric’s life will take place at the Whitney Crawford Community Centre, Tiverton, Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. Memorial donations to the Trillium Gift of Life, Kincardine Lions Club or the MS Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
