DONNA JUNE WILLIAMS (née OSBORNE)

Donna June Williams (née Osborne) of Tiverton died peacefully, with family by her side, Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine. She was in her 85th year. Born in Feversham, Ontario, she grew up in the Dundalk area. She married (Glenn) Frederick Williams of Eugenia Falls, Ontario, in 1952, and they had two sons, Wayne and Barton. Fred’s work with Ontario Hydro meant frequent moves to remote areas of Ontario. During that time, Donna focused on her family and faith while collecting friends and hearty recipes. She was an avid pen pal and remained in touch with many friends made during this time and in her earlier school days. In 1971, Donna arrived in Tiverton and quickly became a fixture in the community through her service work, community involvement and time working at the post office. Those visiting the post office were greeted with her ready smile, quick laugh and sharp wit. She drew much comfort and strength from her faith and was a dedicated member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Tiverton. She also gave generously of her time, spending more than 54 years as a member of the Eastern Star. Be it serving meals, baking pies, knitting socks for those in need, or simply sharing a kind word, she did it without hesitation. Donna treasured the time she spent with each member of her family. She was a proud and loving grandmother; interested in all aspects of her grandchildren’s lives, she kept them in her prayers. Her great-grandchildren were regular visitors, and she would often share stories of the entertainment they brought her. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Wayne (Carol) and Bart (Nancy); grandchildren, Lindsay Williams, Kyle Williams (Theresa), Alissa Bigelow (Ross) and Luke Williams (Stellina); and great-grandchildren, Cole, Zoey, Kali and Anna Bigelow, Jack, Elle and Kacey Williams, and Tyler MacDonald. Donna is also survived by her sister, Rose Marie Adams of Kincardine; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Fred Williams (2005); parents, Harold and Rosetta (née Sayers) Osborne; brothers, George Osborne and Dallas Osborne. Visitation will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, from 7-9 p.m., with an Eastern Star service at 6:30 p.m. The funeral to celebrate Donna’s life will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Tiverton, Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Jeanette Fleischer officiating. Interment, Tiverton Cemetery.
