GERALD JOHN "GERRY" DEVLIN
October 14, 2026
Gerald John "Gerry" Devlin of Walkerton died peacefully, Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, at the age of 78. After a brief and courageous battle with cancer, he found peace while at the Huron Shores Hospice in Tiverton. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he was the son of Margaret (nee McAloon) and Neil Devlin. He immigrated to Canada in 1952, settled in Milton, Ontario, and later became a long-time resident of Grey and Bruce counties. He built a distinguished career, spanning more than 40 years, in structural restoration, where his core philosophy was fairness and respect. Gerry never asked anything of others that he wasn’t willing to do himself — a golden rule that extended deeply into his personal life. An old soul and a true people-person, his genuine care for others never wavered; even in his final months, he was always quick to ask, “How are you doing?”, “How’s your day going?”, and “Did you sleep okay?” Gerry was a passionate family man, a fixer of all things, and a lover of animals big and small. He lived his life to the absolute fullest, successfully achieving what mattered to him most: a loving marriage, a wonderful family, and a happy home. Beloved husband of Glenda for more than 39 wonderful years. Loving stepfather of Rick (Jenn), Tania, and Jim; and proud and cherished Papa of Jenna, Jacob, and Austin, and great-grandchildren, Mynden, Mazley, Morrow and Ozzie. Dear brother of Neil (Pam), Pat (Debbie), Maureen (Jeff), and Kathleen (Perry); and dear brother in-law of Wendy Devlin and Diana Devlin. Gerry will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends. Predeceased by his parents, Neil and Margaret Devlin (nee McAloon); his infant son, Gerald Jr.; brothers, Michael and Frank Devlin; and great-niece, Annie James Crerar. Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, from 2- 4 p.m., and 6-8 p.m., at Cameron’s in Walkerton. A private family service will be held at the funeral home. Interment, Paisley Cemetery at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Paisley Legion or the Huron Shores Hospice. On-line condolences, memories, and photos may be shared with the family through Cameron’s at https://www.cameronfuneralhomes.com/.
