DOUGLAS "DOUG" JOSEPH BORON

January 7, 2018

Douglas “Doug” Joseph Boron of Hanover, and formerly of Kincardine, died with family by his side, at home, Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at the age of 71. Beloved husband of Dr. Susan Boron (née Enkin). Remembered by his brothers, Jeff Boron (Linny DVine) of Victoria, B.C., and Wes Boron of Tiverton; and brother-in-law, Chris Boron-Musick of Kincardine. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Audrey (née Bailie) Boron; and sister, Lisa Boron-Musick. Doug was passionate about everything. Within and beyond his position as palliative care director in Kincardine, his life's work was support for the dying and their families. A professional artist, he painted powerful, flowing colour field canvasses. He inspired young artists, teaching at the Art Gallery of Hamilton and Georgian College. He was a farmer, maple syrup producer, photographer, machinist, a builder. An accomplished outdoorsman, he shared his passion for hunting, fishing, and conservation with many, including the young people he mentored, but essential to him was time outdoors alone with his dogs. He could not stand by, he fought injustice, in any form, his entire life. Visitation will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, Friday Jan. 12, 2018, from 5-8 p.m., and Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, from 10-11 a.m., with the funeral to celebrate Doug’s life at 11:30 a.m. Memorial donations to the ALS Society of Canada, Grey-Bruce Animal Shelter, or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
