GUSTL "GUS" AUGUST KUPPERS

May 19, 2018

Gustl “Gus” August Kuppers of Kincardine, died with family by his side, Saturday, May 19, 2018, at the age of 93. Loving father of Bryan and Kevin (Donna) Kuppers, and remembered by the children’s mother, Annemarie Kuppers. Missed by his grandchildren, Justin and James Kuppers. Remembered by many dear special friends. Gus was known far and wide for his hospitality personality. He came to the Kincardine area in 1978 and became manager of the Sutton Park Inn which he ran for almost 25 years. The Sutton Park was built by Sam and Mort McGregor who sold it; however, a few years later, Sam McGregor had to take it back, with help from Jack Nancekivell, Cliff Hewitt and Bev Bryant. Gus was working for Holiday Inn in Cambridge at the time. He was the manager they recommended as a troubleshooter to help out the hotel chain. He came to Kincardine to help out the Sutton Park which he did in tremendous fashion, making it a gem of hospitality. He was an excellent manager, loved children and was a great boss. To him, the customer always came first, and he expected that attitude from all his employees. Gus lived in Point Clark and had a wide circle of friends. Up until he turned 90, he was still holding annual Sutton Park Inn manager's barbecues. A celebration of his life will take place at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Saturday, June 16, 2018, from 1:30-4 p.m. It is a casual come-and-go in honour of a very loved man. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
