Kenneth "Ken" Carman Hendry of Tiverton died at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine, Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Velma Hendry (née Ferris). Loving father of Ann (Rick) Poppe of London, Steven (Anne) Hendry of Tiverton, and Lloyd (Donna) Hendry of Inverhuron. Missed by his grandchildren, Kurt (Rebecca) Poppe, Claire Poppe, Deanne (Dan Post) Poppe, David (Yan) Hendry, Joel (Melissa) Hendry, Kristen Hendry, Amber (Jason Stevenson) Hendry, Michele Hendry and Rebecca (Mark) Ribey; and eight great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered by his sister, Margaret (Peter) McKague; sisters-in-law, Pat Hendry, and Grace (Bruce) MacPherson and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son, John Hendry (1982); daughter, Sandra Hendry (2018); parents, Harold and Laura (née Finlay) Hendry; brother, George Hendry; sister, Laura Jean Hendry; and sister-in-law, Marjorie (Burton) Shewfelt. Ken and Velma farmed in Bruce Township and later moved to Tiverton. He was a long-time member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Tiverton, where he sang in the choir for many years. Visitation will be held at the Knox Presbyterian Church, Tiverton, Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, from 1:30-2:30 p.m., followed by the memorial service to celebrate Ken’s life at 3 p.m., with Rev. David Chang officiating. Final resting place, Purdy Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. |
