Roger Scott Cracknell of Kincardine died peacefully in his sleep, in the early hours of Aug. 7, 2021, at the age of 65. Loving husband of Lynda (nee Taylor); they were to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary Aug. 21. Caring father of Mark (Michelle), Holly (Matt), Ashley and Michael (Shannon). Beloved grandfather of Triniteigh, Troy, Madison, Sophia, Ellie and Brielle. Brother of Gary (Linda), Steve (2015), Jayne and Michael (Jacqueline). Loved son-in-law of John Taylor (Lynne) and the late Patricia (Stark). Fondly remembered by brother-in-law, Chris Taylor (Linda); and sister-in-law, Shelley Taylor. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Donald and Bernice (nee Saville) Cracknell. Roger leaves behind a legacy in the volleyball community, where he was involved in almost every aspect of the game. He was also an active participant in the seniors’ community. You could find him working in his wood shop or on the golf course, beach, baseball diamond, soccer field, badminton court or at a card table. Roger was a fierce, left-handed competitor and would always push you to be the best you could be. He loved watching his kids play sports, and was a dedicated fan. He was enormously proud of his children and grandchildren. As a youth, Roger was an Air Cadet where he received his pilot’s licence (single engine) at 17. He helped with Sea Cadets and sailing. He graduated from the University of Guelph (Bachelor of Science) and Conestoga College (Air and Water Resource Engineering), and was a chemistry technologist at Bruce Power for more than 25 years, retiring in 2017. Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family gathering in the near future. There will be no formal service. Donations to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, in his name, would be greatly appreciated, as an expression of sympathy. On-line condolences may be left at "He is just away playing in a higher league."
