ILENE GREER (FULTON)

November 8, 2021

Ilene Greer (Fulton) died peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, at Guelph General Hospital, Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Harold (Toby) Greer (1995). Greatly missed by her children, Joanne (Steve) Just of Aberfoyle, Edith (Fausto) Mussato of Nobleton, and Donny Greer of Lucknow. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Heather (Ren) Olivieri, Andrea Stortz (Eric Mok), Matthew Greer, and Marco, Ariana and Becky Mussato; her great-grandchildren, Avery, Kayli, Ruby, Makayla and Keira; and very special friend, Yvonne Brewer. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Elsie and James Fulton; sister, Dorothy Ross and her husband, Gordon; brother, George Fulton and his wife, Violet; brother-in-law, Clarence Greer and his wife Marie; and sister-in-law, Louise Edmanson and her husband, Eric. Ilene was born in Howick Township and grew up in Greenbush and Mount Forest. In 1948, she moved to Lucknow as chief telephone operator for the Bell Telephone Company’s Lucknow office. With her move, she was in need of a radio and, as luck would have it, Greer Radio and Electric was next door to the telephone office. The family is pretty sure that was Dad’s most memorable sale! Together, Mom and Dad shared a love of travelling, gardening, and most of all, time spent with family. Ilene was a member of the Lucknow United Church Women (UCW) and was involved for more than 50 years with the Girl Guides of Canada, starting out as a Brownie leader in the 1960s and then with the Trefoil Guild. She looked forward to attending her grandchildren’s activities, including baseball games and singing, hockey, dance, and horse competitions. She also loved her iPad, getting the family videos and photos, especially those of her great-grandchildren. We are forever grateful for the values she instilled in us and for her never-ending support through our ups and downs. Forever in our hearts! The funeral will be held at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, Monday, Nov. 15, 2021, at 1 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. Interment, Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow. Memorial donations to the Lucknow United Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, would be greatly appreciated by the family. Condolences on-line at www.mackenzieandmccreath.com.
