Resident shares some suggestions for the Municipality of Kincardine
To the Editor:

I would like to share a few suggestions with your readers and the Municipality of Kincardine:

1. Bike paths. Where are they?

Do we need more studies of the local traffic to design them? Or do we only need paint on the roadways? Marked pathways on the roads within the urban community and paved shoulders on Highway 21 up to the Northline would improve travel safety for many citizens.

2. Remove NO PARKING restrictions which are only in place to facilitate snow removal.

Instead, remove snow during normal working hours as occurs in many municipalities. This would result in financial savings from overtime pay and would also reduce the workers' stress from overtime requirements. There would be the added benefit of not interrupting the sleep of residents with snow removal equipment noises.

3. Parking on the municipal lots around Victoria Park and behind the stores on Queen Street should not be restricted due to snow removal requirements.

4. The North and South Piers could remain open if warning signs about the danger present during high waves and strong winds, were erected at the entrances to both of them. People should take responsibility for their actions; and preventing us from ever walking the piers is a drastic measure that affects all our citizens who enjoy strolling on the pier IN NICE WEATHER when it is completely safe.

5. Public washrooms should remain open year-round unless freezing pipes is a concern (perhaps in January/February). This is an essential service that should not be tied to parks department schedules.

To be continued ...

With kind regards.
