The 15th annual Kincardine Women’s Triathlon is set to run this Saturday, with 460 competitors.
The sold-out event once again includes the Healthy Lifestyle and Fitness Expo, Friday evening, from 5-8 p.m., at Reunion Park, beside Kincardine Harbour.
The expo features early registration/race kit pick-up for triathlon entrants, as well as a number of vendors, including active and sportswear, cycling and healthy living products.
Also, for the first time in the history of the Kincardine Women's Triathlon, Community Living of Kincardine and District will be entering two teams in the Team Triathlon event. Amy Robinson, Kathy Soloduka and Bethany Collins will participate with the support of Cathy Pennington, Beth French and Louise Bursey. Together, these six women make up the 'Inspiring Possibilities' team."
In addition, as with the race last year, both Community Living clients and support workers will be involved in the race as volunteers, helping with registration and as route monitors.
A reminder to residents that there will be road closures Saturday morning, from 8:30-11 a.m. Roads affected include the following:
Traffic into and out of the harbour and Station Beach will also be restricted from 6 a.m. until about 1 p.m. The triathlon organizers appreciate the public's co-operation in respecting these road closures, the barricades and the volunteers to help ensure the safety of all race participants.
