Retired RN says Kincardine hospital should have the best, not what's good enough
To the Editor:
RE: “Municipality reaffirms support for Drive CT scanner at Kincardine hospital”
Thanks for the report on the proposed CT scanner at the Kincardine hospital.
It certainly appears that our family doctors have done their research, and know which model of CT scanner would be the best fit for Kincardine.
The comment, “The board feels it’s (Edge Plus) good enough for Kincardine,” caught my attention. As a community, we are not going to be installing new technology every few years.
I believe the South Bruce Grey Health Centre board should be looking at “best for” rather than good enough.
If the Drive CT model is more adaptable for issues like head injury, and interfacing with medical expertise like the cardiology program, then the Drive should be the version installed.
As a Registered Nurse (retired) I have seen first-hand the issues that arise when technology does not mesh together. If our resources in the major health centres are not comfortable with the Edge Plus, having it rather than a familiar machine, would be a drawback.
Keep up the good work at the Kincardine Record!
