RE: “Kincardine councillor reprimanded second time for breaching Code of Conduct”
Kincardine council’s decision to reprimand councillor Dave Cuyler for breaching its Code of Conduct, says a lot more about council than it does Cuyler.
Cuyler, apparently, did not believe the findings of the Pandemic Economic Recovery Group and questioned their veracity.
He, obviously, did not word his concerns in a proper manner. Instead of questioning the truth of the report, he should have asked to see the survey questions and results, and who was surveyed.
Those are valid questions and should have been asked. You would think that some members of council would have stepped in and asked the obvious, likely getting Cuyler off the hook. Instead he appears to have been “egged” on.
Cuyler named no one at that meeting, Sept. 21. The integrity commissioner didn’t believe it necessary to name Cuyler’s accusers.
So we have an “unknown” person on the Pandemic Economic Recovery Group whose integrity Cuyler questions, and three anonymous complaints about Cuyler.
I wonder what this “big investigation of unknowns” has cost taxpayers. And I wonder why the newest member of council was the one to ask why anonymous complaints are allowed to stand.
I wonder, also, why members of this council don’t work together for the good of the municipality and each other.
