Reader disappointed with article about inclusivity mural in Kincardine

To the Editor:
RE: “Kincardine okays $18,700 mural on equipment shed at Davidson Centre”

I am rather surprised that this article comments predominantly on the finances involved and negative feedback about the inclusivity mural in Kincardine.

I find that reporting the negativity toward the project without balancing it with more voices from the community, gives the article a tone of antagonism toward the project that I do not feel reflects the community sentiment as a whole.

I would personally have considered the racist implications of rejecting this mural or putting it off, had it been me.

We are living in progressive times. We recognize the harm that has been caused by racism and we must stand up against it rather than reporting neutrally about it.

I am rather disappointed in this article.
