Kincardine Sunset Quilters' Guild makes donation of 125 quilts
The Kincardine Sunset Quilters Guild has been busy during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

The group, with members based in Kincardine and the surrounding area, completed 125 quilts since the last delivery. Of these, seven went to Owen Sound Cancer, 10 to another group in the Bruce-Grey area, and the rest went to Project Linus in London.

The quilters (and friends who knit or crochet) are a very talented and productive group. This delivery included: 100 quilts of varying sizes, seven blankets and 12 preemie blankets.

To date in 2021, thanks to all the support of the volunteers, Project Linus - London has received 445 blankets/quilts for distribution. The items have been, or will be, delivered to a variety of health-care and social service agencies in the city including:

  • Ronald McDonald House and Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario
  • Canadian Mental Health Association - both Heartspace and the Eating Disorders Support Group
  • Merrymount Family Services
  • London Pregnancy and Family Services Centre
  • Salvation Army (for the Christmas baskets)
  • A Women’s/Family Shelter
  • An elementary school in an impoverished neighbourhood

There have been a few personal requests for blankets/quilts and one item was donated to a fund-raiser for the shelter.

Organizers of Project Linus - London are so grateful for the support they receive from the Kincardine Sunset Quilters’ Guild. Thank you to the members for their role in spreading comfort and joy throughout the City of London.
