Council of hypocrites!
To the Editor:

What gives?

Kincardine was basically shut down over the summer – no pipe band parades, no Scottish Festival, no massed band event, no market in the park Mondays – to keep the COVID-19 pandemic under control.

Yet this weekend, people from across the province are invited to a Blues Festival with five bands playing on the street and at a downtown hotel. Two of the sponsors of the festival are the Municipality of Kincardine and Bruce Telecom (owned by the municipality).

Council obviously believes it’s a great idea to stage a Blues Festival because the municipality’s Canada Day committee is staging the Canada Day fireworks this Saturday night as well.

COVID-19 prevents our elected officials from meeting in person, and they hold public meetings on Zoom (perhaps they are scared of associating with their peasantry). However, it obviously doesn’t bother council to sponsor events that could bring COVID-19 to the municipality.

Something doesn’t seem quite right here.
