Kincardine race-horse owner enjoying best season yet
Brian Shewfelt is having his best season yet.
The Kincardine race-horse owner has made a great comeback, notching four wins, two seconds and five thirds, as of Sept. 18.
“After I retired, I started buying horses because the government had stopped funding horse-racing, and the animals were less expensive,” says Shewfelt. “I bought two broodmares, and my current racers, ‘Ally Flight’ and ‘Three Smiles,’ are from them.”
It has taken him eight years to reach this level of success, and he was set to take “Ally Flight” to Grand River Raceway Sept. 20, which was a big step-up.
Shewfelt says he has always had horses of some kind. Back in the 1980s, he raced horses but was not as successful as he is now.
