Future accidents are preventable, says downtown Kincardine resident
To the Editor:
I was born and raised in Kincardine and have lived my entire adult life here.
In my humble opinion, there is no better place to call home – I love Kincardine. We truly are a community where ‘You’re a stranger only once’.
Living in the core area, and being an avid walker and cyclist, I am out and about frequently, and have witnessed first-hand the speed at which vehicles travel our streets.
We have seen vehicles racing on Queen Street mid-afternoon, vehicles failing to stop at marked intersections and increasing speed to make it through a caution light or around a corner.
To date, two pedestrians have been seriously injured by vehicles. Fortunately, neither situation resulted in death; however, both individuals required surgery and extensive rehabilitation.
Future accidents are preventable!
Please exercise caution when driving – follow the speed limits and be aware of people on the streets.
I fear for the safety of not only myself, but the elderly (my 90-year-old mother being one), children and pets.
