RE: “Grey-Bruce Freedom Fighters draw crowd to Victoria Park, Kincardine”
I was very disappointed to see the three or four dozen people at the so-called “huge” crowd of Freedom Fighters in Kincardine. The Charter of Rights and Freedoms does not give you the right to put others at risk and the message you are sending our young people is: We don’t care about anyone but ourselves and neither should you.
Nearly 85 per cent of eligible Ontarians are now vaccinated yet the remaining 15 per cent are taking up more than 75 per cent of the COVID-19 beds in the province. Those people put our health-care system and all of the dedicated medical staff at risk.
You’re not allowed to drive at excessive speeds, you can’t drink and drive, and you have always needed proof of vaccination to attend school for the good of society at large. The COVID-19 vaccination is no different.
The next time you gather with a bunch of anti-vaxxers, turn to the one beside you and ask, “How many people do you know who have died from small pox or polio?” Unless that person is over age 65, the answer will be NONE. Why? Because vaccines wiped out those terrible diseases in Canada decades ago.
You have the right to not get vaccinated, but you do not have the right to put your fellow citizens at risk, or spread disinformation. All the legitimate scientific information you need is readily available if you bothered to read it, but you’d rather scream into a microphone for attention.
Well, you have our attention but I don’t think it’s the kind you were hoping for.
