To the Editor:
RE: “A case of the ‘Mondays’"

The following letter is addressed to Ian Reich, author of “A case of the ‘Mondays”

Dear Mr. Reich,

There are people out there who seem to care only about themselves. They refuse to educate themselves, preferring to take the word of some stranger on Facebook with absolutely zero understanding or education of epidemiology and public health rather than read the plethora of valid scientific information available from highly-educated scientists and health-care workers.

The vast majority of us will never understand these people as it leads not just to more cases and more variants, but to inexcusable behaviour, such as you and your staff are being forced to endure.

Please remind yourselves every day that the vast majority of Canadians appreciate the risks and long hours health-care providers have endured for the past 20 months. Every one of you is a hero to us.

Without you, many, many more people would have died, especially in the first months when there was no cure or treatment and you had to work with shortages of basic PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)!

Your communities love and support all of you. Don’t let a few selfish, ignorant members of society make you feel unappreciated, because I assure you, you are VERY appreciated and respected! The reason we don’t see you in person to express our gratitude, is precisely because all of you have done your jobs so well that we don’t need hospitalization!

Have a wonderful Monday, and every day, knowing you are all making a difference in so many lives.

Kindest regards,
Mollie Liddle
Kincardine
