Ripley welcomes new full-time fire chief

Wednesday, Huron-Kinloss mayor Mitch Twolan announced the appointment of Christopher Cleave as the new Ripley-Huron fire chief, effective Sept. 14. 

Cleave has 18 years of experience in the fire service, nine of which as a fire chief.
 

He joins the Ripley-Huron department from his most recent position as fire chief and director of protective services for the Municipal District of Smoky River, No. 130, in Alberta.
 

Cleave holds a law enforcement diploma, along with multiple NFPA certifications, including Fire Officer I & II, several courses through the Ontario Fire College, Volunteer Firefighter, Module A,B,D & E, and Fire Prevention Officer courses, as well as Incident Command Level 100 to 400.

He is currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Public Safety Administration Program.

Cleave takes over from long-time Ripley-Huron fire chief Doug Martyn who retired July 1 after 34 years of service.
