Ripley Wolves defeat first-place Seaforth in two-win weekend
The second-place Ripley Wolves secured a huge two points Saturday night, downing the first-place Seaforth Centenaires, 2-1, in WOAA senior men’s hockey.

The win over Seaforth came on the heels of a hard-fought 5-3 win in Shallow Lake, Friday night.

In Shallow Lake, goalie Ethan Primeau got the win in the Wolves net and his teammates scored two in the third to down the Crushers, 5-3.

Goalscorers were Cody Britton (2), Dan Nicoloff, Alex Kuntz and Adam Alexander. Helpers went to Garrett Meurs (3), Brett Catto, Hunter Robins-Gibbons, Gerritt Satosek, Tyson Soers, Payton Dunlop and Nicoloff.

Saturday, the Wolves hosted Seaforth and the great crowd enjoyed a hard-hitting and exciting back-and-forth affair, which Ripley hung on to win, 2-1.

Goalie Jason Hamilton got the win in the Wolves net, while Keaton Willis and Catto provided all the offence Ripley would need. Assists went to Alexander and Hamilton.

With the win, the Wolves moved into sole possession of first place, with 21 points to Seaforth's 20. The Centenaires have played one more game than the Wolves as well.

Dec. 18 fund-raising game for Meurs family

The Saturday, Dec. 18, game at home versus the Shelburne Muskies, will also be a fund-raiser for Garrett, Jenna and Mynden Meurs, to assist Jenna as she recovers from a car accident. The game will give the community the opportunity to donate to the family whether through a jar at the bar or the silent auction, which has received incredible support from the local and hockey community at large.

Cash, cheque and E-transfer will be accepted, and you do not have to remain at the game to win a prize, as long as yours is the highest bid. We will reach out to all item winners after the auction closes, which will be about an hour after the final whistle to give the players time to bid as well.

Check the Wolves website at ripleywolves.com/ later this week for the list of the silent auction items. Due to COVID-19 protocols, the silent auction may not be located in the Wolves Den; more information will be available at game time.

Puck drops at 7 p.m. Game sponsors are Lippert Trucking and Greenfield Global.
