Ripley Wolves edge Winterhawks, lose to Shelburne
The first place Ripley Wolves came from behind to steal a 6-5 overtime win in Saugeen Shores, Wednesday night, Dec. 29.

Nick Seiler scored the OT winner in a wild game that saw eight goals scored in the second period alone, with the Wolves trailing 5-4 after the middle frame.

Other goal-scorers for the Wolves, were Garrett Meurs (3), Jarrett Kuntz, and Payton Dunlop. Assists went to Cody Britton (3), Dan Nicoloff (2), Alex Kuntz, Jarred Colling, Seiler, Meurs, and J. Kuntz.

Jason Hamilton got the win in the Wolves net.

The Wolves return home Saturday, Jan. 8, at 7 p.m., to take on Shallow Lake. Game sponsors are (S)he Shed Beauty Boutique and McTeer Automotive.

Meanwhile, before Christmas, the Wolves fell, 3-1, to the Shelburne Muskies, Dec. 18, at the Ripley Arena.

The Wolves fired nearly 50 shots at the Shelburne net, but only Cody Britton could find the twine (from Brett Catto), while the Muskies sealed it with an empty netter.

At the same time, over on Facebook, the community was ferociously bidding on more than 90 silent auction items donated by local families, businesses and members of the hockey world. The auction, which ran from Saturday morning to Sunday evening, raised an incredible amount of money for Jenna, Garrett and Mynden Meurs, as Jenna recovers from a car accident.

The Ripley Wolves thank all who played a part in this fund-raising efforts. Everyone was so quick to offer silent auction items, to volunteer at the game, and bid big on so many great prizes. We truly live in an amazing community.
