Pickleball players say Kincardine council's list of excuses is getting old fast
To the Editor:
RE: “Kincardine considering 2022 budget with 6.3% hike in tax rate”
We, as a Pickleball community, have gone to Kincardine council many times now (lost count), requesting outdoor Pickleball courts. The last time was this past spring (2021).
Twice, we have temporarily lined the tennis courts in Kincardine to play outdoor Pickleball, only to have the lines ripped off twice by people who do not want to see Pickleball on a community facility.
We have donated money to the recreation department to put toward outdoor play and have suggested the most cost-efficient way to provide outdoor play is to line the tennis courts to play both sports.
Leave it up to the individual community taxpayer if he/she wants to play tennis or Pickleball. No one loses anything on this option and the cost is minimal.
The last option of painting lines on the tennis courts was going to be done by volunteers who also taped the lines on the courts as a trial which ended in the municipal property being destroyed not once but twice. The solution is to make lines permanent.
So, please do not say there has been no information about outdoor Pickleball courts being requested and no information on court costs or court usage … the list of excuses is getting old fast.
