Freedom March was about 100 uncaring, selfish people, say readers
To the Editor:
RE: "Crowd braves cold and snow for Freedom March through downtown Kincardine"

When I read the Kincardine Record today, one of the headlines read, “Crowd braves cold and snow for Freedom March.” I think that the headline should have been, “100 selfish people brave cold for Freedom March.”

These people do not want to protect seniors and the vulnerable from the effects of COVID-19. They do not care for children under age five who cannot be vaccinated for COVID-19.

As a citizen of the world, I would like to see this pandemic end. The way to do this is to get vaccinated, wear your mask and wash your hands regularly. Fairly simple things to do.

I do not feel that any of these measures has affected my freedom or any Canadian’s freedom.

To these 100 selfish people, I say get vaccinated, put on a mask and wash your hands.

To the Editor:

In my 32 years in Kincardine, I have never been more embarrassed by a group of people. They all claim to be about peace and love and caring, but in reality, they're the most selfish people I've come across in my 66 years on the planet.

You absolutely cannot claim to care about "the children" and other people when you don't have the decency to wear a mask into a store to protect the people around you. These are the same individuals who cause trouble and berate teenage workers for following the rules set in place to keep us safe, and more importantly, people who are medically fragile trying to go about their lives without the risk from these individuals.

I am disgusted to read that they decided to go and play victim and try to call out Tim Hortons, owned and operated by a local family, because THEY chose to play martyr - an embarrassment to the community.

They are trying so hard to be oppressed but thank goodness, most of our community is level-headed. It's an absolute slap in the face to all the health-care workers across the community and province. I can get behind no vaccine mandate, I can get behind no lock-downs - but really, how hard is it to just wear a mask in a public place?

They want everything, but give nothing in return - even a compromise so small as a mask while shopping. Imagine being so privileged that your biggest "fight" is screaming and crying about wearing a mask for 25 minutes in the grocery store. Too bad not everyone is that lucky.
