Name a Kincardinite who competed at the Olympics
To the Editor:
Good morning to you, Liz!
Every four years, for the Winter Olympics, I make a display on our roadside parking lot to show Canada that we are patriotic up here in the boonies on the Kemble Shore, and we cheer on our athletes.
So, as I was working away, hanging my five Olympic rings up in the tree, I got to thinking, how many athletes from Kincardine or the Greater Kincardine Area, have ever participated in the Olympics or the Special Olympics?
The only one I can remember, in my time, was Bob Santavy, the weightlifter who worked at Douglas Point for about three years in the late 1960s or early 1970s.
I know there was another one, but I can’t think who he/she was – it’s bugging me!
Maybe you can start an Olympics Trivia Contest with your many readers: “Can you name any Kincardinites who participated in any Olympics (winter or summer)?"
Thanks,
Slainte Mhath!
