Bulldogs split games with Wingham in opening games of playoffs
The Kincardine Bulldogs won one and lost one in the opening games of their best-of-seven playoff series against the Wingham Ironmen, in the Pollock Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League.

Kincardine hosted Game 1, Friday night at the Davidson Centre, in front of a huge crowd, and won, 2-1, in overtime.

It was a rough, chippy affair, with the ‘Dogs taking the lead early in the second period, when Gavin Gibbons scored from Gavin Downs and Nolan Koetsier.

Wingham tied it up early in the third, and the Bulldogs couldn’t get anything past the Wingham goalie, forcing the game into overtime.

Midway through the overtime period, Bryce McFadden scored on the powerplay, giving Kincardine the 2-1 win.

‘Dogs goalie Josh Jacklin made 49 saves on 50 shots.

Game 2 was supposed to run Saturday night in Wingham but was postponed to Sunday, due to poor weather.

The Ironmen welcomed the Bulldogs to the North Huron Wescast Community Centre, Sunday night, and sent them home on the short end of the 2-1 score this time.

Jeffery Fritzley scored the lone goal for Kincardine, from Carter Servais and Koetsier.
