Nova Scotia reader glad to see Pat Guay honoured at art gallery in Kincardine
To the Editor:
RE: “Victoria Park Gallery features work of Kincardine artist Pat Guay for month of April”

Thank you for sharing Pat Guay’s artwork with her many friends and the many people who loved and admired this remarkable lady's creativity.

My sister, Pat Beaton, was a teacher at the school where Pat Guay was principal. Thirty-eight years ago, my sister was killed in a car accident on a stormy day, March 22, on her way to work. Pat Guay and a couple of my sister's colleagues flew to Nova Scotia to attend her funeral.

We stayed in touch after that and I greatly appreciated Pat's friendship through letters, E-mails, and Facebook. She also remained in contact with my mother throughout those years and it meant a great deal to my mother who lived to be 101 years old, dying just over four years ago. Pat also stayed in touch with my sister, Sandra Gergich, who lives in Tillsonburg.

Prior to COVID-19 days, Pat was planning a trip to Nova Scotia and I was really looking forward to spending time with her. Unfortunately that will not happen.

Pat was such a vibrant person, so interested in culture, music, people, art, and community events. I was grateful to get the chance to visit Kincardine a few years ago and had the opportunity to see the town that both my sister and Pat loved, the school where my sister taught, and the Catholic church with my sister's name etched in glass inside.

Seeing Pat’s work on display in the Victoria Park Gallery, is a real treat. Her creativity and talent live on in her lovely paintings. It is, indeed, a pleasure to know that she was honoured this way in the town that she so loved.
