About 100 people gathered in Victoria Park, Kincardine, Sunday afternoon, for the annual SuperWalk for Parkinson's, raising $18,546 for the cause. That's up from last year's total of $17,900.
And it puts the total raised in 15 years, at more than $250,000.
That's the word from volunteer chairperson Leah Coulthart-Howe, and Shelley Rivard, chief executive officer of the Parkinson Society of Southwestern Ontario.
Rivard said the Kincardine walk is always a great fund-raiser for Parkinson's and Sunday was a beautiful day for families to go for a walk on either the two-kilometre or five-kilometre route.
"All the funds go to find a cure for Parkinson's," she said. "We have to fund research to find a cure for this disease. Thanks to all the walkers, the donors and the sponsors who make this event happen."
MC Mike Brough welcomed everyone and piper Jennifer Farrell of the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band led the five-kilometre group on its walk, and then the two-kilometre group.
