Hodglynn Holsteins of Kincardine has grand champion at Bruce Grey Holstein Show
Spectators at the 18th annual Bruce Grey Holstein Show held Sept. 1 at the Walkerton fairgrounds, watched as Carl Phoenix of Sunderland, Ontario, judged 108 head of Holsteins exhibited by breeders of Bruce, Grey and Huron counties.
Grand Champion of the Show was the five-year-old class winner, “Oakfield Gold Topaz,” exhibited by Hodglynn Holsteins of Kincardine and Littlestar Holsteins; with Reserve Champion Honours going to “Millbrooke Charlie Pikaboo,” the senior three-year-old class winner, shown by Ed Meulendyk of Badjeros.
The Reserve Champion was also Best Bred and Owned Champion of the show.
The Junior Champion honours went to the senior calf, “ Kailea McCutchen Letty,” exhibited by Kailea Holsteins of Elmwood, while Reserve Junior champion was awarded to “Unique Dempsey Cheers,” the senior calf class winner, shown by Unique Holsteins of Holstein.
For the fourth consecutive year, Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor of the show was Ed Meulendyk of Badjeros.
In the afternoon, 35 4-H members participated in the 4-H Showmanship classes. Serena Lamont of Ripley was selected as Grand Champion Showperson, and Joseph Kapteyn of Wiarton as Reserve Champion Showperson.
Grand Champion 4-H calf was shown by Lindsay Kieffer of Teeswater, and the Reserve Champion 4-H calf was exhibited by Greg Burgess of, Mildmay.
