South Bruce OPP report impaired drivers; break-in; and lock-it or lose-it campaign

IMPAIRED DRIVER LOSES CONTROL
 

(CULROSS TWP, ON) – Sept. 20, at 8:37 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a single-vehicle crash along Bruce County Road 12 in Culross Township. 

Officers attended with the Mildmay Fire Department and Huron County paramedics to find a grey Pontiac G6 had left the roadway and was in the ditch. The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol.

Forty-two-year old Kendra DIEMERT of Howick Township has been charged with care or control while impaired and care or control over-80 milligrams.  She is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 26, to answer to the charges.  There were no injuries reported at the scene.
 

IMPAIRED DRIVER FACING DAY IN COURT
 

(CHESLEY, ON) – Sept. 20, at 12:08 a.m., a South Bruce OPP officer on patrol along 1st Avenue South in Chesley stopped a silver Ford F150 pick-up truck. 

The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol and had a quantity of illegal street drugs. Forty-year-old Terry YOUNG of Brockton has been charged with drive while suspended, operate over-80 milligrams and possess a controlled substance. He was held in custody pending a show cause hearing Sept. 20.
 

POLICE INVESTIGATING OVERNIGHT BREAK-IN
 

(KINCARDINE, ON) – Sept. 19, at 6:25 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of an overnight break-in at the Subway restaurant located along Broadway in Kincardine. 

Sometime during the overnight hours of Sept. 18 or early morning hours of Sept. 19, the business was forcibly entered. The list of stolen property includes the store cash register. There is no estimate on the value of the stolen items or the cost of repairs available at this time.
 

LOCK-IT OR LOSE-IT
 

(LUCKNOW, ON) – Sept. 18, the South Bruce OPP received reports regarding five different vehicles that were entered overnight in the Village of Lucknow.  The list of stolen items includes a pair of prescription Ray Ban sunglasses and some loose change.
 

The South Bruce OPP is encouraging residents to follow tips from the Lock-it or Lose-it initiative to help prevent thefts of motor vehicles and thefts from motor vehicles:
 

  • Always roll up your vehicle’s windows, lock the doors and pocket the key
  • Never leave your vehicle unattended while its running
  • If you have a garage, use it.  Lock the vehicle and the garage doors
  • Never leave your vehicle keys in plain view or easily accessible
  • Always park in a busy, well-lit area
  • Never leave valuable objects or packages in plain view
