Long-time Kincardine residents Arthur and Norine Turland celebrated significant birthdays last week.
Norine turned 91, Sept. 15, and Arthur turned 94, Sept. 17. They enjoyed a week of visits from family and friends, lots of cakes, and a phone call from family members who are travelling in Rome.
The couple met more than 70 years ago when Arthur, of Bedford, England, was stationed at the Port Albert Air Force Base. Norine was a real home-town girl, with family roots tracing back three generations to original settlers in Huron Township.
They both feel very fortunate to be residing in their family home in the wonderful community of Kincardine. They enjoyed many local events this summer - attending the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band Saturday Night Parade was a top priority every week!
Since Arthur and Norine don't get out as much as they used to, they appreciate everyone's visit. Their door is always open, and there is always a hot cup of tea waiting for friends and family.
