Ontario Liberals deflect answers to questions posed by Huron-Bruce MPP
Today (Sept. 24), when Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson questioned the government on whether or not the people of Ontario can trust the Liberals to act with integrity when running the province, the government refused to respond.
The question was posed after the announcement this morning that the OPP will be laying charges against Liberal operative Gerald Lougheed in regards to allegations of unlawfully negotiating appointments during the Sudbury by-election.
"The actions of the government in Sudbury are a stark reminder that the Liberals have no respect for the democratic process," said Thompson. "They arrogantly believe that they are accountable to no one and act accordingly".
When Thompson alluded to the fact that there are several ongoing OPP investigations into this current government, acting premier Deb Matthews refused to answer and completely side-stepped the issue.
"This government promised the people of Ontario transparency, but so far all we've seen are smoke and mirrors," said Thompson.
