Goderich man faces assault charge

(GODERICH, ON) - Thursday afternoon, Nov. 24, Huron County OPP officers responded to a report of assault in the Town of Goderich.

Investigating officers learned that town employees were conducting annual tree-trimming at Sunset Park, on Essex Street in Goderich. A nearby resident began yelling at the workers which resulted in another staff member attending to mediate the situation.

At approximately 2:40 p.m., during discussions with the individual, the accused allegedly assaulted one of the employees.

As a result of the investigation, Huron County OPP has arrested and charged 70-year-old Gordon GARLAND of Goderich with one count of assault. The accused has been released with a court date in January, 2023.
