Kincardine Christmas Hamper program helps 559 people this year
To the Editor:
On behalf of the Kincardine Community Services Christmas Hamper program, I extend a huge thank you to all of the people, organizations and businesses that donated generously so we could provide ‘gift card hampers’ to individuals and families again this Christmas.
This year, we assembled 235 gift card hampers. These were provided to 117 families, 18 couples and 98 individuals, representing a total of 559 people.
In 2021, we distributed 198 gift card hampers, serving 459 people. We had exactly 100 more people on our list this year. Because our numbers were so much higher, we had to spread our resources a little thinner.
I personally thank my committee and the volunteers who ‘manned’ the donation desk at the Century 21 office over the course of 15 days. I also thank the mathematicians who took the money and gift cards that were donated and divided them all equally so that we could distribute them fairly.
A special thank you to Anita and Bill Heikkila for covering for me when I was out of town for our son’s wedding.
You can be assured that the community’s generous spirit made Christmas a little merrier for many folks in Kincardine.
Until next year,
Heather Finnie,
Kincardine Community Services
