Eight charged in $2.2-million drug raid in North Huron

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Thursday, Oct. 1, the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit, West Region Emergency Response Team, West Region Canine Unit and Huron OPP executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence located on Marnoch Line in North Huron.
 

As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police revealed a sophisticated cannabis marijuana grow-operation.
 

Police seized cannabis marijuana plants and processed cannabis marijuana. The combined estimated street value of the controlled substances is more than $2.2-million. Police also seized offence-related property that consisted of trafficking paraphernalia and cash with an estimated value of $2,000.
 

Eight people were arrested on the property and were held in custody for bail hearings scheduled for Oct. 5 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. 

The following individuals were arrested and charged with Production of Cannabis Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana for the Purposes of Trafficking:
 

• Rong Qing HUANG, male, 49, of Scarborough
• Xinguo LI, male, 33, of Port Hope
• Rui Liang ZHOU, male, 48, of Markham
• Yueying HUANG, female, 58, of Rhode Island, United States of America
• Qiu Lan LIU, female, 66 of North Huron
• Hong Ting TAO, female, 55, of North Huron
• Chen Meh LIN, female, 68, of North Huron
• Mia Hua SHU, female, 58, of North Huron
