KDSS Knights swim team strikes gold again

Tuesday, the KDSS Knights swim team travelled to the Wilmot Recreational Complex in Baden for the CWOSSA championships.

Opening the event, was the Senior Girls Medley relay team of Brenna Hegmans, Natalie Newton, Lilly Egberts and Madelyne Zettle. The girls achieved their fastest time of the season and a fourth place finish.

Individual event results are as follows:
 
  • Junior Girls 50 m Free - Madelyne Zettle - tied for 2nd place
  • Junior Boys 50 m Free, Alex White - 2nd place
  • Senior Girls 50 m Free - Lilly Egberts - 7th
  • Senior Boys 50 m Free -Aaron Urie – 5th; Chris McLarty - 7th
  • Senior Girls IM - Natalie Newton - 8th
  • Senior Girls Fly - Lilly Egberts - 3rd
  • Senior Boys Fly - Aaron Urie - 3rd
  • Senior Boys 100 m - Aaron Urie - 4th
  • Junior Girls 50 m Back -Brenna Hegmans – 3rd; Madelyn Zettle - 7th
  • Junior Boys 50 m Back - Alex White - 4th
  • Senior Girls Back - Lilly Egberts - 3rd
  • Junior Girls Breaststroke - Brenna Hegmans - tied for 10th
  • Senior Girls 100 m Breastroke - Natalie Newton - 7th

And finally, as the KDSS Senior Boys relay team approached the starting block, the crowd pondered nervously, could they do it again? Could they earn a third gold medal finish this season? Would they qualify for OFSAA by hammering out a personal best?

With explosive starts and powerhouse finishes, the relay team of Aaron Urie, Chase Anderson, Alex White and Chris McLarty did it! Best of luck to the CWOSSA gold-medal-winning Senior Boys relay team as it heads off to represent KDSS at OFSAA!

To all the individual swimmers waiting to see if they receive an invite to OFSAA, as the districts compile their data to determine the top 50 times in the province, best of luck and stay tuned for further details.
