History and Heritage was the theme for the Bervie Women’s Institute when the members met at the hall in Bervie Oct. 7.
Ten members answered the roll call by naming their grandparents and from where their family originated.
Members went over a questionnaire regarding the W.I. restructuring recommendations and our answers will be forwarded to the Area Secretary. Betty Jean White and Elsie Schular gave a report on the Grey Bruce area convention held Oct. 1 in Chepstow.
Dianne Wilson has prepared an advocacy letter to be sent to Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson regarding OHIP covering dental costs for those without health plans.
Several will attend the W.I. Rally in Elmwood Oct. 22. Reid’s Corners is having a ROSE (Rural Ontario Sharing Education) Program on the History of Women Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. Bervie W. I. is planning a ROSE Program on “Get Cracking with Eggs,” Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.
The convener, Mildred Griffith, gave an interesting history of Bervie (north side of road) starting at the United Church and coming west to the Geddes farm. What a wealth of information Mildred had in her comments. She will do the south side at the Christmas meeting. Thanks to Sylvia Hasbury for the nice snacks.
Our next meeting will be at the hall Nov. 4 at 10 a.m. with the theme Health/Exercise.
