When goaltenders Jack Anderson and Rowan Cherrett graduated to Atom after last season, they left some big shoes to fill between the pipes for the Kincardine Home Hardware Novice Rep. Kinucks.
The tandem of Jordan Wall and Cameron Carney has answered the call.
Both second-year goalies have split duties through three exhibition games and have been stellar in leading the Kinucks to three straight wins.
The latest was part of Saturday’s Hockey Day in Kincardine as the Kinucks hosted the Saugeen Shores Storm in Tiverton.
Carney and Wall were busy, spoiling many point-blank opportunities for the Storm, and were instrumental in Kincardine’s 4-3 win.
Sniper Trent Houghton continued his hot play, scoring the lone goal of the opening frame from Ethan Kaminski and Jack Beddington.
Saugeen Shores bookended a Joshua Cuyler goal from Brody Lyndon and Houghton as the second period ended knotted at two.
The Kinucks and Storm once again traded goals in the third before Colton Edwards buried his first Novice Rep. goal from Jordan McDonald which stood up as the game winner.
The other Kinucks third-period marker was Houghton’s second of the game from Ty McQuillin.
Kincardine finished up an exhibition home-and-home against Arran-Elderslie Thursday in Paisley.
The Kinucks once again came out on the top of a 6-2 score.
Houghton had a hat-trick and McQuillin, McDonald and Kaminski added singles. Assisting, were Houghton, Beckett Graham, Kaminski and Edwards.
