Women's House Fall Gala set for Saturday night at Davidson Centre

Women's House Fall Gala set for Saturday night at Davidson Centre

The annual Fall Gala in support of the Women's House Serving Bruce and Grey is set for this Saturday (Oct. 17) at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The theme this year is "1980s Prom."

There are just a few tickets left for the event which is a major fund-raiser for the shelter, says Tiffany Love, community and fund development co-ordinator. "It is imperative to sell out to help us reach our fund-raising target of $153,000 this year."

The live auction is going to be bigger and better this year, says Love, with “experience”-type packages up for bid. WestJet has graciously provided two return airfare tickets anywhere the company flies. Women’s House, of course, has added a suitcase of goodies for the winner.

Imagine a fun road trip for you and three friends to Toronto. Add a gas card, meal vouchers, accommodation at a downtown hotel, and four City Line tickets - it’s the best television show to be part of the audience. Not only is it fun, but the show gives away lots of great things!

On top of these items, there will be a few more surprises. Could there be a sports-themed package or two in there? Maybe there are packages that involve beer or wine? Whatever those surprises are, they are bound to excite. So if you don’t have your ticket yet, get it now!

Although the Gala event is an evening full of fun and entertainment, it is also an evening of charity. All of the funds raised at the event go directly toward the services and client necessities not covered by government funding. Women’s House relies on major fund-raisers, such as the Gala, to ensure the current level of vital services and programs are continued for the women and children in need in our community.

The Gala could not be successful without the support from the Prestige Sponsor: Bruce Power, and the Corporate Sponsors: Armow Wind, Greenfield Ethanol, Bruce Telecom, Power Workers’ Union, Matchett Financial Services, The Co-operators, Meridian Credit Union, Miller Insurance Brokers and Ontario Power Generation. Also helping with the success of this event are all of the local businesses and organizations donating to the silent auction.

Tickets are $75 and include a fantastic dinner served by the Queen’s Bar and Grill, live entertainment, both silent and live auctions, as well as the chance to win one of three elimination prizes.
