Bruce County highlights Paramedic Services Week

May 21, 2023

In Bruce County, and across the nation, Paramedic Services Week is May 21-27. This year’s theme, as identified by the Paramedic Chiefs of Canada, is “Diversity in Paramedicine - The Patient. The Provider. The Profession.”

This theme is intended to have a long-term purpose, with 2023 starting an important conversation that brings awareness to, and learning opportunities on, diversity in the health system and paramedicine environment. Diversity is dynamic, subjective, and evolving. Paramedic Services Week highlights the opportunity to work toward understanding intricacies of diversity and creating change.

“This Paramedic Services Week, we ask community members to join us in making an extra effort to Be Inclusive, Be Patient, and Be Kind,” says Paramedic Services chief, Steve Schaus. “As Bruce County Paramedic Services continues to enhance our skills and training, we will be reviewing and reflecting on these important themes and goals to better serve the patients we encounter and better collaborate within our teams and partnerships.”

“It is no surprise that Bruce County Paramedics, as community leaders, are seizing this opportunity to learn and further enhance their skills and approach to providing care for our region,” says warden Chris Peabody. “The valuable contributions that Bruce County Paramedics make every day in our communities is truly remarkable and so deserving of appreciation. Please join me in thanking Bruce County Paramedics this Paramedic Services Week.”
