Kincardine council is seeking four people to sit on the Bruce Telecom board of directors.
Following a closed session Wednesday night, council approved an exemption from Sections 2.05, 2.06 and 2.07 of Bylaw No. 2006-266, allowing for the recruitment and appointment of four board members to the public utility which is owned by the municipality.
The Bruce Telecom municipal service board consists of nine members, five of whom are voting members appointed by council, and three of whom are non-voting members, including the company's chief executive officer, its chief financial officer, and the municipal chief administrative officer. The Kincardine mayor is an ex-officio member of the board and also a voting member.
Four of the five appointed positions will become open at the end of November this year. With council's decision to retain and support the enterprise, the municipality is inviting applications from individuals to fill the four board positions for a period of up to two years.
This will be an exciting opportunity to be a part of the investigation and decision-making into options for a new governance model, states the public notice, issued by Kincardine chief administrative officer Murray Clarke. The new board will be charged with working with the senior management team and council, on developing strategic and capital plans that will guide the business over the longer term.
Those interested should submit a letter of application and resume to Clarke at the municipal administrative centre, before 4:30 p.m. Nov. 13. Clarke can be reached during office hours at 519-396-3018 or E-mail: cao@kincardine.net
This opportunity is open to currently-serving board members. Information about Bruce Telecom can be found on its website at www.brucetelecom.com.
For additional details on eligibility requirements, annual stipend and meeting schedule, send an E-mail inquiry to Corinne Cleary at ccleary@kincardine.net.
Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a recruitment committee, pursuant to Bylaw No. 2006-266. The objective is to have the new board in place by the first regular meeting in January, 2016.
