Carol and Mike Blake of Kincardine were part of a group that joined the 1-Million March 4 Children at the Bluewater District School Board office in Chesley, Sept. 20.

The march was an opportunity for parents and grandparents to air their concerns about the school boards in Ontario enforcing a curriculum based on SOGI 123 (Sexual Orientation Gender Identification) on children, without any parental right to reject.

“This is not about hate,” said Carol Blake. “This is about teaching reading, writing and arithmetic, with parents involved.”

The group stood, holding up signs, on both sides of the road in front of the school board office in Chesley. It then headed through downtown Chesley at 11 a.m. and returned to the board office, dispersing around 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, in Kincardine, a group of concerned local residents gathered in Victoria Park to discuss how to support 2SLGBTQ-plus youth in the face of hatred, homophobia and transphobia which are targeting and endangering vulnerable students, through rallies, and political and social media comments.
