Christine MacDonald (above) is the new chief administrative officer (CAO) for Bruce County, effective Dec. 16.

The county made the announcement in a press release, issued Thursday.

MacDonald is currently the county’s deputy CAO and has previously served as the interim CAO and director of human services.

Through her various county roles, she has showcased experienced leadership in government and the planning, delivery, and advocacy of responsive, high-quality services for residents, businesses, and visitors. She is skilled in strategic planning, policy analysis, good governance, and fiscal sustainability.

MacDonald first joined the county in 2007 and has deep roots in Bruce County and the region.

“On behalf of council and the residents of Bruce County, I congratulate Christine MacDonald on her appointment as Bruce County’s new CAO,” said warden Chris Peabody. “She brings extensive municipal management experience and has demonstrated a leadership style that fosters community development, support, and engagement. Council and I look forward to continuing to work with her as we move forward with good governance and fiscal stability.”

MacDonald will continue to work with retiring CAO Derrick Thomson to ensure a smooth transition and successful budget planning.

“I am excited for this appointment to serve the residents of Bruce County,” said MacDonald, “and I look forward to continued work with council and staff to foster innovation and sustainable growth in supporting our thriving communities.”
