Kincardine 7K Trail Challenge raises $1,760 for Kincardine trails
The fifth annual Kincardine 7K Trail Challenge has raised $1,760 for the Kincardine trails!
Race director Victoria Clarke said the event drew 220 racers and 35 volunteers on the first day of autumn to relish the breathtaking scenery of Lake Huron and the Kincardine trails.
“A massive shout-out and warm thanks to our incredible volunteers who not only cheered our racers on but also guided them through the trails,” she said. “We truly couldn't pull this off without their unwavering support, and it's heartwarming to see so many familiar faces returning year-after-year to lend a hand.”
The main sponsor of the event is West Shore Clothing and Surf Shop which provides prizes for every child in the race, as well as awards for first to third in each age category. Numerous other sponsors stepped up to assist with the race, providing refreshments and donations.
Pete Richards was MC again this year and contributed to the set-up and fine-tuning of the route, as he has for the past five years.
“This was the inaugural experience for our son, Maverick, at the Kincardine 7K Trail Challenge, and it was nothing short of enchanting, as he remained captivated throughout the entire morning by the incredible energy radiating from this event,” said Clarke.
“Our entire trail system has been built with community support,” said Dave LaFortune, chairman of the Kincardine Trails committee. “We are in the process of building a five-kilometre ‘Tartan Trail’ for hiking and biking, and this generous donation will help with the construction of that trail. Many thanks to all who competed in the 7K fund-raiser trail race, and to Victoria Clarke for organizing the event again this year.”
