Kincardine Special Olympics has amazing year, thanks to all who helped make it happen
Special Olympics of Kincardine and Area has had an amazing year, with so much success and so much fun!

That’s the word from co-ordinator Joy Laidler as she outlined the highlights.
Figure skater Brooke Thomas (right) has been named to the Team Ontario Training Squad for the Special Olympics National Winter Games being held in Calgary, Feb. 27 to March 2, 2024.
Five members of the Kincardine Thunder Curling Team have been named Special Olympics Ontario Team of the Year for 2023. Team members are Jess Belyea, Jackie McDonald, Ryan Brodhagen, Chris Weese and Richard Wright. They will be honoured at the Special Olympics Ontario Awards event, Oct. 26, in Toronto.
The Kincardine organization has hosted three Special Olympics competitions, including the National Curling Qualifier in February, Bocce in August, and Track and Field in September. Local athletes had the chance to compete in each of their sports this year with LOTS of medals won!
And finally, Kincardine Special Olympics held an amazing banquet in April, the first time in many, many years. It was a great event and the athletes had a lot of fun!
“We appreciate the wonderful support of our local community which has helped make all this happen,” said Laidler.
