Catholic school board releases EQAO results
The Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) has released the results of the 2022-23 assessments, with the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board trailing the provincial average in every category.
The results are as follows:
Grade 3
- Reading - 69% (Provincial Average 73%)
- Writing - 56% (Provincial Average 65%)
- Mathematics - 53% (Provincial Average 60%)
Grade 6
- Reading - 80% (Provincial Average 84%)
- Writing - 80% (Provincial Average 84%)
- Mathematics - 43% (Provincial Average 50%)
Grade 9
- Mathematics - 50% (Provincial Average 54%)
Grade 10
- Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test - 82% of first-time eligible students who fully participated were successful (Provincial Average 85%)
“At the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board, we continue to strive for excellence,” says education director Gary O’Donnell. “Our educators continue to focus on student well-being, engagement and achievement in a healthy, faith-filled environment. We will continue to ensure that assessment practices are personalized, precise, and meet the needs of all students.”
He says the recent EQAO results serve as valuable insights into the students' learning journey.
“These results highlight areas where we can focus our efforts to improve and better support our students in their educational endeavours. As a Catholic school board, we are committed to working collaboratively with our dedicated educators, students, and families to continue to enhance the learning experience and ensure strong academic outcomes for all."
