Ripley Wolves nab three of four points on the weekend
The Ripley Wolves staged a big comeback in Seaforth to force overtime, Saturday, before losing 5-4, but then bounced back, Sunday, to defeat the defending champs from Tavistock, 5-2, on home ice.

The Wolves stumbled out of the gate Saturday night in Seaforth, and were down 3-0 quickly. Cody Britton started the comeback with two goals, assisted by Dan Nicoloff, Kaden Hoggarth, Kyle Durrer and Evan Visser.

Nicoloff tied things up, unassisted, early in the third, and Ryan Armstrong gave the Wolves a short-lived lead midway through the frame, from Gerrit Satosek. They couldn't hold onto the lead and sent the game to overtime, where the Centenaires won it, handing the Wolves their third overtime/shoot-out loss of the season.

Ripley goalie Jason Hamilton took the overtime loss.

Sunday was Tyke Night and Meet the Wolves at the Ripley Arena, and this rematch of last year's championship final against Tavistock did not disappoint.

Satosek led the way in the first period, netting two goals to set the tone for the game. Assists went to Jarred Colling (2), Garrett Meurs and Tyson Soers.

Every time Tavistock pushed back with a goal in the second period, the Wolves would answer just a few minutes later, with Hoggarth and Nicoloff tallying markers in the middle frame, which ended with a 4-2 Wolves advantage. Assists went to Meurs (2), Logan Swanton and Hoggarth.

Nicoloff finished off the scoring midway through the third, from Britton and Hoggarth, and the Wolves extracted a bit of revenge for their championship final loss this past spring, by taking a 5-2 win.

Hamilton stopped 33 shots for the win.

The Wolves host the Creemore Coyotes, Saturday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. The game is sponsored by the Ripley-Huron Legion which again will be selling 50/50 tickets at every home game this season - be sure to support this important community organization.

Ripley will then travel to Palmerston to face the Minto 81s, Sunday at 2 p.m.
